The Cow

COW

The friendly cow all red and white,
I love with all my heart:
She gives me cream with all her might,
To eat with apple-tart.

She wanders lowing here and there,
And yet she cannot stray,
All in the pleasant open air,
The pleasant light of day;

And blown by all the winds that pass
And wet with all the showers,
She walks among the meadow grass
And eats the meadow flowers.

Talking Picture

When will this Dharma Bhoomi, Deva Bhoomi be free from such a demoniac activities!! Krishna please help!!!!

“If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be a vegetarian.” Paul McCarthey

On our Birth our mother breast fed us for a period of time. Then for the rest of our life we are fed by cows, without even feeding their calves. After squeezing out even the last drop of its milk, humans slaughter it for its meat.

India has a rapid rise in slaughter houses of cows from about 350 to 36,000 in span of thirty years. This is the official number.Don't know what is unofficial number.

The highly merchandised of the slaughter houses are ALKABIR ( Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh), FRIGORIFICO ALLANA (Aurangabad), Hind Industries (Aligadh), Allana Sons (Delhi, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra), Devanar ( Maharastra). They employ inhuman process and torturous way of getting meat and skin.

The animals agonies start long before they are dead. They are brought to Alkabir in trucks, from far away distances. For economy, 20-25 huge buffalos are stacked up in each truck. Nobody cares to feed them food, or even water while in transit. They are packed so tightly in the truck, that they are hurt by each other. By the time they arrive, they are no more capable of standing on their own feet. Their tails are cut and chilli powder is rubbed into their eyes to make them move.

They are brought into the final ground, where at least a thousand animals are stored. This is their last open air. They are kept here for four days, hungry and thirsty. Then their legs are broken and eyes poked, so that a 'certificate' can be obtained about their uselessness. The hunger and thirst of four days cause the hemoglobin to move from blood in to fat. The meat with higher hemoglobin fetches better prices.

Now these animals are pushed into washing showers. Extremely hot water (200 degrees!) is sprayed on them for five minutes, to soften their skins, so they will be easy to remove. The animal faints at this point, but it is not dead yet.

Now it is hung upside down with one leg, on a chain-pulley conveyor. Then half of the neck is slit. This drains the blood, but does not kill the animal. After death, the skin swells thick, which sells for a poor price. But the skin of a live animal is still thin, which has better economic value. On one side the blood is dripping from the neck, and on the other side a hole is made in stomach, from which air is pumped inside. This causes the body to swell, making it easier to peel the skin. After removing the leather, the animal is cut into four pieces: head, legs, body, and tail. The machines remove bones, and pack small pieces of meat into cans for shipping. Most of the importers are Gulf Countries.

Right now, there are 36,000 slaughterhouses (official number), of which 10 are highly automated, where daily 250,000 animals are hacked. At this time the population of buffalo s in the country is only 75 millions, and cows 200 millions. Alkabir alone is licensed to kill 600,000 a year, but Deonar (Mumbai) is licensed to kill 2,500,000 a year, in addition to 120,000 cows and 60,000 buffalo's. Kolkata located slaughterhouse kills 1,200,000 cows and buffalo's per year. These are just official numbers for a few large facilities.

We hereby request the Government of India and Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) to enforce a complete ban on slaughtering of cows and ban the Slaughtering houses Alkabir, Frigorifico allana , Hind Industries.

Stop Slaughter of Holy Cow on Bakri-Eid in the Name of Religion

Article submitted by Sree Mahesh Agarwal, President A.P.Goushalala Federation

Cow is highly sacred animals to Indians. They worship cow along with other God Goddess equally. But to violate the religious feelings of Hindus a large number of Cows & Calves are being slaughtered on Bakri-Eid by Muslim community. No religious provision is there in “Islam” or “Quaran” regarding the slaughter of Cows on Bakri-Eid. The plea is categorically rejected by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in a case of state of West Bengal v/s. Ashutosh Lahiri and others. In this case one another case was also quoted M. H. Qureshi & others in the state of Bihar, (A.I.R. 1958 Sec. 731) in which the Hon’ble Court has clearly ruled that slaughter of Cows on Bakri -Eid day cannot be considered to be a part of essential religious practice and that is the reason why protection of Article 25 is not available for enabling slaughtering of cows on Bakri-Eid day.

Even though it is not so essential for Muslims sacrificing Cows, they are being slaughtered on Bakri-Eid day only with a view to damage the sensitive religious feelings of Hindus. Not only a Bakri-Eid but also on other days also large number of Cows and calves are being slaughtered while violating the (i) A.P. Prohibition of Cow Slaughter and Animal Preservation Act, 1977 (ii) PCA Act 1960, (iii) A.P. Motor Vehicle Rules.

At the time of slaughtering the Cows no animal slaughter rules were followed. They were slaughtered in a mob at a time and on same place though they are animals. They also feel pain, stress, heat cold, thirst, hunger.

Animal Welfare Organization in A.P. was working hard for the strict implementation of the above mentioned Act. Members of various Animal Welfare Organisation were helping the police department by providing information about the illegal transportation and slaughter of Cows.

Unfortunately, nobody came forward to complaint regarding the illegal slaughtering of Cow. If any one complained to any concerned authorities, the authorities were not taking any action and said that they will face religious problems from the Muslims and majority of these officials have no knowledge of PCA Act 1960 & their responsibilities.

Except taking temporary preventive actions on Bakri-Eid, slaughtering of Cows is not successfully resisted, but so many other problems are arising.

Now it is suggested to take hard preventive actions at least 15 days before the Bakri- Eid. Then no religious problems will arise and law and order may not be damaged. In this connection Director General of Police, District Collectors, Secretary, Road Transport Authority, Director Animal Husbandry were contacted but of no use.

Director General of Police issued a circular asking all the police station to form teams for stopping of cow slaughter but not a single case has been booked in this regard since the issue of circular.

Not only on Bakri-Eid in regular days also there are thousands of cow slaughter in and around Hyderabad.

We are of strong opinion that nearly 25000 cows will be slaughtered only on Bakri-Eid in Hyderabad itself.

If the concerned authorities implement the preventive measures at least 15 days before the Bakri-Eid, slaughtering of cow can be prevented peacefully and successfully. Animals markets shall be made close down for 15 days up to Bakri -Eid.

If anybody finds anybody slaughtering cow or its progeny they can contact Mr. Mahesh Agarwal, President A.P.Goshala Federation on 9394005600 or mail him on police4animals@gmail.com

What does Your Milk Contain? Is it Karma Free?

Veil: (Veal is the meat of young cattle (calves). Though veal can be produced from a calf of either sex and any breed, most veal comes from male calves of dairy cattle breeds. Veal has a tender texture.)

Every time we buy milk from unprotected cows we are helping and financing the maintenance of the dairy industry which is based on exploitation and abuse against the defenseless animals. And all the process is executed on an unethical groun...d and disregards any respect for animal life.
So that milk is all tinged with high degree of violence.

Explanation:
In order for a dairy cow to produce milk, she has to keep having babies. When the cows have female calves, they’re likely to grow up to be dairy cows like their mom. When the cows have male calves though, many of them are taken away from ...their moms right after they are born to be raised as veal.
These babies are put in tiny wooden stalls all by themselves. They’re chained at the neck so they can’t turn around or move more than a step forward or backward. All they can do is stand up and lie down. This is done so that they don’t develop muscles so that their meat stays very tender. Twice a day they are given some liquid food. This food contains chemicals that will help the babies survive under these awful conditions. Except for feeding time, they are all alone. This is very hard on babies who are meant to be in a herd with their moms, aunts, cousins, etc. These babies never get to play or graze or feel the sunshine of their backs or be with their mothers. They spend their entire lives in the dark in little stalls until they’re big enough to be killed and turned into veal – usually around 16 weeks old (about 4 months).

Next time you buy your milk Pl. make sure that the cows, Bulls & the calves are protected for life. For such supply in Hyderabad and Secunderabad In Andhra Pradesh, India Pl. contact us at goumata@gmail.com

GAUSHALA: AVENUES FOR SELF-RELIANCE

name="Originator" content="Microsoft Word 12">< rel="File-List" href="file:///C:%5CUsers%5CRajaram%5CAppData%5CLocal%5CTemp%5Cmsohtmlclip1%5C01%5Cclip_filelist.xml">

India has more than 4000 Gaushalas (cow shelters) in its length and breadth. Most of these take care of the old and hapless cattle. However, interspersed amongst these, there are around 200 exemplary Gaushalas that show the path to developing the Indian cow – whatever its numbers and capacities – as a self-reliant animal. Self-reliance comes from using the cow-dung as source of fuel, bio-gas, clean energy and organic manure; cow-urine as bio-pesticide and raw-material for Panchgavya medicines; and, indigenous cow milk as a therapeutic and nutritious product with immunomodulatory strength for the human body. Through such value-addition (followed in many Gaushalas), utilization of bulls in the lean period (e.g. Kanpur Gaushala), genetic selection of young calves (e.g. Radhanpur Gaushala), many Gaushalas are now financially self-sustaining Exemplary Gaushalas

Several Gaushalas in the country have followed innovative methods for raising output from cows and bulls e.g. enhanced utilization of bull power for rural activities and electricity generation (Kanpur Gaushala Society, Kanpur, UP), production of bulls for export to other states (Shaladeri Gaushala, Haryana), production of Methane, LPG and liquid Carbon Dioxide from gobar gas (Sri Gobind Gaushala, Gorakhpur, UP), and production of panchgavya medicines, vermi-compost and bio-pesticide for use in natural and organic agriculture. By using such means many more Gaushalas have become self-reliant, notably among them are GoVigyan Anusandhan Kendra, Devlapar, Nagpur (MH), Sri Geeta Gaushala, Surbhi Gram, Dagmagpur (UP), Geeta Press Gaushala, Gorakhpur (UP), GoSamvardhan, Govansh Vikas evam Anusandhan Kendra, Deen Dayal Shodh Sansthan, Chitrakut (UP), Gayatri Tapobhumi, Shantikunj, Haridwar (UT), Bafna Go Seva Anusandhan Kendra, Jalgaon (MH), Adarsh Go Seva evam Anusandhan Kendra, Akola (MH), Keshav Srishti Gaushala, Bhayandar, Mumbai (MH), Kamdhenu Gram Vikas evam aarogyadham, Chakulia (JH), and Durgapura Gaushala, Jaipur (RJ). Large scale practice of such value additions would also raise farmers’ income from livestock and his acceptance to maintain the cows, retain the breeds and help in conservation.
Utilization of Bulls

Under the Indian scenario and over the ages, a cow has developed more as a mother of bull calf rather than as a producer of milk. The recent increase in mechanization of agriculture has reduced in the requirement of bulls. In plain areas, and with partial mechanization in hilly and remote areas, bulls are required for only a few months in a year and the farmers find it difficult to maintain the bulls for a whole long year. Noting this, Kanpur Gaushala have developed a system to use the bulls for village activities like lifting water, chaff cutting, and even generation of electricity like charging the inverter for subsequent use. The bulls can be put to gainful use for 3-4 hours every day during the lean season. As observed in villages, bullocks are made to walk in a circular path (having a diameter of about 6 meters), thereby the bullocks can generate 1½ to 2 RPM (revolutions per minute) which is sufficient for some village activities like crushing sugarcane or lifting water from shallow wells. Such low RPM, however, is not sufficient for other demanding rural agricultural operations presently carried out by diesel power. In order to raise the RPM, Kanpur Gaushala has taken a lead and developed appropriate gear-instruments which raised the output to 400 RPM that is sufficient for operations like pumping out water from deep wells, running ‘atta-chakki’ etc. Through mechanical means, the output was further raised to 1800 RPM to generate and store electricity in ‘inverter’ for subsequent use. Some other Gaushalas have implemented the technology and raised the utility of bulls. This above scheme raises the hope of utilizing the bullocks in their lean period (when bullocks are not required for field operations and have to be fed by the farmers without any output) and reducing the dependence on the already rationed pole-electricity. At present around 57% of the country’s land is cultivated by bulls including the entire hilly and remotely located areas. Enhancement in the utility of bulls and increased benefit to farmer would raise the demand for bulls and Gaushalas would be benefitted by meeting the demand. Use of bulls is environment friendly, the dung/Urine are used for organic farming and there is reduced dependence on fossil fuel. According to an estimate (Patel, 2005), India will need 41 million draft animals in 2020 and 35 million in 2060. Gaushalas can gear up to meet the demand and gain self-sufficiency in the process.

Panchgavya

Panchgavya is the product prepared from five ingredients all taken from indigenous cow: milk, curd, ghee, dung and urine. The product has variously been shown to be effective in human ailments (Chauhan 2001-2007). The cow urine distillate has been found to increase immunity in mice. It also increases the phagocytic activity of macrophages and secretion of interleukin 1 and 2. Recently, the cow urine has also been granted U.S. patent for its synergistic properties with antibiotics and as bio-enhancer. Indian scientists have obtained US patent (No. 6410059 dated 25.6.2002) on a pharmaceutical composition comprising cow urine distillate (Dhama et al.2005). Another US Patent was granted for anti-cancerous properties of cow urine (Patent No. 6896907, dated May 24, 2005). Several Gaushalas are engaged in preparation of Panchgavya products and maintain track record of their effective use on patients. Some notable Gaushalas are:

1. Kanpur Gaushala Society, Kanpur
2. Go-Vigyan Anusandhan Kendra, Devlapar, Nagpur
3. Keshav Srishti Gaushala, Bhayandar, Mumbai
4. Adarsh Go Seva evam Anusandhan Kendra, Akola
5. Deen Dayal Shodh Sansthan, Chitrakut
6. Bafna Go Seva Anusandhan Kendra, Jalgaon
7. Kamdhenu Gram Vikas evam aarogyadham, Chakulia
8. Sri Krishan Gaushala, Durg
9. Gaushala Society, Panipat
10. Madhav GoVigyan Anusandhan Kendra, Bhilwara
11. Durgapura Gaushala, Jaipur

By preparing Panchgavya products and other positive means, many of these Gaushalas are now self-reliant. It is high time certification and standardization for the preparation of Panchgavya medicines is made available so that small and big Gaushalas can take to preparing Panchgavya products and gain self-sufficiency.

Indigenous Cow Milk For Therapeutic Values

Indigenous cow milk is known to have higher therapeutic values. Vechur cow milk is in demand to meet the medical requirement of patients in Kerala. Several studies have confirmed that indigenous cow milk is a rich source of Omega-3 fatty acids, has higher CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid), and MDGi – a protein that suppresses cancer. It also has an agent (Stron-tn) that provides protection from atomic radiations. It has higher levels of certain cerebrocides that increase human brain power, sharpen intellect, give swiftness to body and stability of emotions. Milk from indigenous breed cows is of much higher value than the price it is tagged with. There is a need to change the present system of pricing milk based on fat percentage (which favours buffaloes) and ignores the above therapeutic qualities of indigenous cow milk. Gaushalas maintain indigenous cows and provide cow milk for use as a medicine. A nearby Gaushala is sometimes the only source of indigenous cow milk.
Cow Dung For Fuel, Manure & Energy

Cow dung is a valuable by-product and has multifarious uses. It keeps environment free from pollution, clears air of germs and does not allow any radiation effect. It turns rotting vegetation from spoiling and turns it into compost. Covering of seeds with dung before sowing improves their germination. In general, cow dung is used as (i) Fuel (in the form of ‘upla’) (ii) Manure (compost & vermin-compost) and (iii) For the production of Bio-Gas, Methane, CNG etc.

(i) Cattle produce dung-ultimately used as fuel-worth Rs. 2000 crore per annum in India, and saves on the foreign exchange required for import of petroleum products. Dung as fuel meets the local energy requirements, and saves the expenditure on fuel material. Cow dung has medium burning temperature which is convenient for retention of nutrients. In addition to the domestic front, ‘Upla’ are now plenty in use in industries as well. In ponds, cow dung neutralizes pond’s acidity. In recent years, strong bricks have been made by using cow dung mixed with mud (e.g. Kanpur Gaushala).
(ii) Cattle produce dung - ultimately used as manure - worth Rs. 2500 crore every year. Use of cow dung as manure reduces the requirement on chemical fertilizers while, at the same time, contributes to eco-friendly organic agriculture and natural farming. Vermi-composting improves the manure-quality and availability of nutrients to plants. Cow dung has specifically been used to prepare amrit-pani whereby 5 kg indigenous cow dung is sufficient to meet manurial requirements of one hectare. Other forms of value added manure/compost (like Nadep Khad, Matka Khad) are also prepared in Gaushalas. It is claimed that such manure prepared from the indigenous cow dung is superior in quality. Manure supports earthworms grow and the nutrients in it are in an acceptable form for the rootlets of plants.
(iii) Cow dung is used in the preparation of bio-gas which finds various uses like fuel and light. Recently, bio-gas has been isolated into methane and CO2 (Gorakhpur Gaushala). Bio-gas is passed through cylinders to cleanse H2S gas and water vapour, and then, methane and CO2 are separated out through chemical means. Methane is compressed and bottled in cylinders that are put to use for running auto and car. The liquefied CO2 is a value added product having industrial use. CNG has also been prepared from Bio-Gas and used in vehicles like a car (Jamnagar Gaushala).
Cow Urine as Bio-Pesticide

Importance of cow urine has been better understood only in the recent years even though it has been mentioned in Sushruit Samhit and Ashtang Sangrah. Through the immuno-modulatory properties of the cow-urine (Chauhan, 2007), it cures human ailments and has the capacity to enhance body’s immunity. It is effective against tuberculosis and cancer and enhances the impact of vaccinations. It has been shown to act as blood purifier, cures leucorrhoea, cleans intestines, removes deposits, cures itching, eczema, psoriasis, asthma, giddiness, cough, urinary problems etc. It also prevents free radical formation and postpones ageing. It has bactericidal activity, activates macrophages and augments engulfment power. Cow urine has copper as a constituent that acts as antidote and kills drug resistant bacteria & viruses. It also has uric acid and dissolves stones in kidney/gall-bladder. Use of cow urine raises immune-potentiating property and also reduces immune suppressive effects of chemical pesticides. In agriculture, it is a valuable bio-pesticide, and unlike the chemical pesticides, it doesn’t accumulate in food chain. Proper use of cow urine in agriculture and human health will be all the more important in view of WHO observation that by 2020AD the microorganisms will be resistant to the existing antibiotics.
Cattle Improvement And Conservation

Each Gaushala – it has been revealed recently– has some 10 percent (10P) indigenous cows that are local purebreds (or closely so). These purebreds can be perpetuated to raise purity in the Gaushala by keeping them in a separate shed (10P Barn) and ensuring same breed bull for them. In a recent study (NBAGR, 2006), certain Gaushalas have been noted as potential centres for breed conservation and improvement. In a set of large sized Gaushalas in four states (Haryana, UP, Gujarat and Rajasthan) it was recorded that 22% of the total stock in the Gaushalas was purebred belonging to Sahiwal, Kankrej, Tharparkar or Hariana breeds. It was estimated that around a thousand Gaushalas in the country have the capacity to conserve the local indigenous breeds. Moreover, the selection of progeny in the 10P barn can be directed to raising milk yield to meet the requirements of the burgeoning human population in the country. The selected male calves/future bulls from the 10P Barn can be gainfully used in the remaining of the Gaushala, surrounding smaller Gaushalas and in the surrounding villages for genetic improvement of cattle.
Epilogue

Indigenous cow milk has medicinal and therapeutic qualities, cow-urine is useful as bio-pesticide and has immuno-modulatory and useful medicinal properties, cow-dung has several uses notably manure and energy-source, bullocks can be used in the lean period for rural activities and electricity-generation. Gaushalas are showing path breaking methods for enhanced utilization of cow products and by-products, and becoming self-reliant. Moreover, the indigenous cow system is rural oriented, the improvements and benefits will accrue to the rural system in an eco-friendly manner.

Save our cows from being slaughtered - Make it a mission of your life

Make it easy
  • Discontinue using Plastic Bags immediately.
  • Do not offer garbage or spoiled food to cows.
  • Allow your land to the existing Gaushalas as Gochar, where the cattle can be fed.
  • Immediately start using cow products like Tooth Powder, Soaps, Ubtan, Dhoop Battis, Ghee, etc. etc.
  • Encourage people in your area to use such amazing and effective products.
  • Encourage our farmers to use organic fertilizers based on cow dung (GOBAR), which has shown amazing results.
  • Make your contribution to feed the cows and take care of them.
  • Educate dairy farm owners not to force cows or buffalos to produce milk by giving them any injections like Oxytocin which are harmful to them as well as to consumer of such milk.
  • Educate the small dairy farmers in your area not to handover cows to Butcher(KASAI) or Slaughter House in any case.
  • Please help in solving dairy owners' problems in your area ensuring smooth operations by them.

Thousands of bulls, cows and calves are brutally slaughtered everyday in this sacred land of India which include strong and healthy ones also.

Laws, rules and regulations are violated at every step during the process. Slaughter houses run by municipalities are meant for ending those animals' life whose survival is not good for them and who are totally not fit to survive. They are meant to give deep sleep to these animals, so that they can die peacefully.

Unfortunately, today municipalities under Government's control have converted them into meat factories killing innocent and healthy ones too with different procedure, so that they can earn better price for their blood, meat or beef.

Cows, bulls and calves are among those killed very brutally. Their painful journey starts right from pickup from the original point by butcher/transporter who carries them to the slaughter house. This is the first step of law violation. The animals are transported in cruelly overcrowded lorries. Many are dead, mangled and wounded although the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act specifies the space provided per cow should be no less than 2 square meters, and specifically, the national law allows no more than six cattle per lorry. These laws, too, are ignored More details.

By the time they are delivered at Slaughter House, they are mangled and wounded badly. Many of them die in transit. Probably this cruel procedure is done purposely, so that the Slaughter House people have excuse to declare them unfit for living and therefore certifying for slaughter.

One can not imagine what kind of pain our mother goes through at that time. It is shame on humanity that the whole life she feeds her milk in so many ways to us and one day she is handed over to slaughter houses for killing her and supplying her blood, bones, skin and beef etc. to various profit making companies for sake of money involving a huge amount of corruption.

Their incessant cries and screams displaying the intolerable pain, neglected by man-made laws, demands justice from the civilized human society that currently treats them no better than commodities More details. People who are involved in this business do not know cultural heritage of this Shri Krishna's sacred land. We can not in our life time repay the cost of milk fed to us by our first mother (who gave us birth) and second mother (our beloved cow).

Whole of life our cow mother feeds us as well as our new generation with her milk and once she becomes old and hence not able to produce milk she is sent to slaughter house for a painful end on the ground that she has become old and sick and is of no use now.

Can we do the same thing with our old mother who gave us birth. One would say No. Then why with cow mother. We are forgetting the message of love (prem) taught to us by Lord Shri Krishna, who is the true lover of cows. The pain does not end here.

Today our dairy industry on the other hand gives so much pain to cows and buffalos to get more and more milk using so called modern techniques. Find in detail how our cow mother and buffalos are being treated by today's dairy industry.

Every year we celebrate Janmashtmi and decorate our temples and do pooja but we forget our cow mother crying at slaughter houses seeking our help in saving her life. At one side, we are allowing our cows to be slaughtered and on the other side we are celebrating Lord Shri Krishna's birthday.

Do you think this is fair ? Every body knows that Lord Shri Krishna loved cows a lot. Lord Shri Krishna will truly accept our pooja on the day, when we totally stop killing cows.

There is a strong need to totally ban on cows, bulls and calves slaughter immediately repeat immediately in India. Now one may ask why only cow, why not goat, pig or chicken. Are they not killed brutally or they have no feeling of pain? It is a genuine question to be asked.

We all of us know that there is always a pain when you hurt anybody. So all of them feel pain. Stop killing and eating them. Just for the sake of taste, we are not supposed to brutally kill any body. Give everybody your love (PREM) which automatically brings non-violence (AHINSA). Be vegetarian and live happy and joyful life and let others live the same.

There has to be a start for any initiative. Be aware of some facts-more details. Let us start with a ban on slaughter of our sacred mother cow. Love all and let every one enjoy on our sacred land. Everyone has right to live happily.

It is our country. We select the ruling Government here with majority. A majority of people in India is always in favour of complete ban on slaughtering of cows, bulls and calves. Even if we look at the economic front in our country, we find that more than 70% of India's population depends directly or indirectly on cows more details. Its killing means a murder of our rural economy. Then all efforts of rural development are wasted.

Our rural economy depends upon cows. It is suggested that all these animals on their natural death be cremated on Electric Machines which will help us to fight global warming in future. They also have the right to a peaceful end. It is expected from our Government to make at least one Electric Cremation Machine in each district.

Instead of killing our mother cows, Government of India must encourage our dairy farms spread all over India involved in producing various products based on bye products like Cows' Urine, Dung(GOBAR) and milk, to increase their production.

Education on Gou Palan to farmers, villagers and Gou Palaks must be added in the programmes being already run for Praur Shiksha in the country by our Government. Government must listen to their problems and provide them better infrastructure, facilities and support so that this one of our most potential fields flourish. The cow owners who are financially poor need more attention to be supported in this respect, so that they are not forced to hand over their cows to be slaughtered.

Instead of making new Gaushala, people can buy land for Gochar for existing Gaushalas for feeding the cattle. This will be a big solution to natural feeding problem for the cows. So many people have already come forward this way. A lot more is still to be done.

Our farmers must switch to organic fertilizers based on cow dung (GOBAR). This can easily be done at their level itself. They can easily be trained to make organic fertilizer from GOBAR and cow urine. This way there will be an encouragement to our farmers to become GO PALAK instead of making so many new Gaushalas in villages resulting cow slaughter later on for one reason or the other.

Now one major question arises. How to care the cows when they are unable to produce milk or become old. Ours is the land of Lord Shri Krishna and we all are attached to emotional sentiments and our family responsibilities, where we do care our family till the end of life. If we educate ourselves and others to do SEVA of such cows, there are so many ways open.

Our initiative is important. Even at the stage when cow is unable to give milk, she is willing to give you lot i.e. valuable urin and gobar. A big potential is ahead based on cow's urine and gobar in our rural areas such as GOBAR Gas, GOBAR products like Dhoop Battis, Soap, Pesticides, Insecticides, Medicines, Organic Fertilizers based on urine and GOBAR etc. There is a need to take initiative by cow owners and our Government.

We also request our Sants who perform their PRAVACHANS all over the country to highlight importance of Cow and Cow SEVA in their PRAVACHANS and guide people to follow the path of LOVE (PREM) shown by Lord Shri Krishna on this sacred land.

The medicines made of Cow Urine, GOBAR and Ghee are amazing and very effective. We must encourage use of these medicines and take initiative to encourage dairy farms producing these medicines. You may view some of them here.

Before it is too late, join together now and make a loud appeal to stop slaughtering and imposing a complete ban on cow slaughter and exporting cows from our country. Make representation to our Government of India whom we have selected.

In your area, if you see any injustice to cows, please do not hesitate to immediately report to the concerned authorities.

Why Worship Cows?

Everyone worships Gou-mata like a deity The word 'cow (Gaaya)' means rays of the Sun-God in Sanskrit. As the Sun God sends His rays to the earth; Gods have sent Gou-mata to the earth as their representative. Man gets nourishment, health and wealth through the medium of Gou-mata. Taking care of cow also amounts to doing one's Dharma-sadhana. Gou-mata has divine qualities like not wishing bad of anyone and helping everyone. Therefore, she is divine. Company of 'Gou' increases 'sattva' component As per the science, we tend to imbibe qualities of the one with whom we are always in contact. When we touch a perfume, our hands smell good and when we come in contact with impure thing, our hands catch that bad smell. Cow has 'Sattva' component in greater degree and therefore, we also imbibe it and become more 'sattvik'.
Gou-mutra is good for health
The Gou-mutra and cow-dung is used for various purposes. Gou-mutra is mainly useful for maintaining good health so also in agriculture. There are 112 medicinal components in 'Gou-mutra' that are useful for human health and this has been proved by scientists. Every component is effective for at least one ailment. Consumption of 'Gou-mutra' increases immunity for fighting against various diseases. Gou-mutra of Indian cows has 3-4 % resistance power against diseases. It is mainly used for skin diseases. Not to prevent cow-slaughter is 'Dharma-haani' (detrimental to Dharma) I do not expect that the saints and mutts who are not doing anything towards prevention of cow-slaughter will do anything towards Dharma. Cow-slaughter is a sign of Dharma-haani. 'Bharatiya Gou-raksha Parishada' is therefore, being founded to save cows. It is also planned to bring together all saints for protection of cow. I shall fight till my last breath for protection of cow. Politicians have failed to stop cow-slaughter Rulers do not consult saints. It is necessary that we are in majority only then the rulers will pay any heed to us as politicians only listen to those who vote for them. Many times, we appealed to Karnataka Government to have some project for protection of cows that met with little success. It is necessary to create awareness among people towards protection of cow.

Get Connected with Cow Now!

No Meat Eating does not mean just Vegetarianism, Ahimsa or nonviolence is not only non-killing, it also means that one’s attitude must be of maitri (amity) and peace. The real meaning of ahimsa is maitri. There are countless jivas, life or life forms, which populate the earth, air, water and are present all around us. How are we to behave towards these? With Friendly relationship!

And what better Animal we can find other than COW, for friendship, for a loving relationship.

Past few months I have come across hundreds of people expressing their solidarity for Cow Protection. One question I always had to answer was, How Can I participate in this movement? How Can I contribute? Not every one can come on to the street and fight for Cow protection. But everyone can have some kind of relationship with cow. It may sound utopian that all devotees on this planet move to rural setting to have a wonderful relationship with Land, Krishna and Cows. But there are other practical ways to have a very loving relationship with Cows.

Religious and cultural sentiments associated with cow are too well known to bear repetition. But its economic and ecological aspects elude the common man and hence this is the most important step – In today’s trend of Economics and Environment make cow protection as some thing hip, promote cow protection will be the most reliable solution for economically sustainable and rural development.

First and foremost we need make a small lifestyle change, we need to have a day to day connection with cow, drink only Cow’s Milk, Eat only Paneer subji made of cow’s milk, use only pure cow ghee, (even if its expensive make sure you buy from reliable Goushala’s) make Gou-Ark as apart of your health care system for your body immunity building. There are several other products available at Bhaktivedanta Goushala, Vridnavan and many farm communities such as ISKCON Gokul Dham in Belgam North Karnataka, Sahayadri Sri Krishna Balaram Keshtra, ISKCON Hebri, South India.

If not anything, at least being with simple doop stick made from Panchagavya in your daily worship. Nice smelling Doop sticks purchased from Bangalore maybe very pleasing to our nose, but trust me Doop stick made of cow products will surely be very pleasing to Krishna. He will appreciate your sincerity and love towards his cows.

We have to understand the way economy works – Demand & Supply, let me share a nice incident, few months back I asked my milk man to stop supplying me buffalo milk as I have decided to take only cows milk. He had no cows, at the same time he did not want to loose his business, he said he will buy a cow and continue supplying milk as per my requirement. Now you too can demand Cow based panchagavya products at your Temple gift shop and ten more devotees starts asking for such products automatically they have to start stocking Panchaghavya products.

I am not sure if any Golden egg giving goose ever existed but COW is aptly suited to that Goose of popular Golden Goose story.

If we can make cow products popular, we can automatically halt killing of cow. All that has to be done is to demonstrate to the farmers and others that a living cow is more useful than a dead cow.

Before smearing Lord Krsihna’s deity with expensive or synthetic perfumes, kindly remember Mother Yashoda used smear baby Krishna with Cow dung and Cow Urine, now that probably explains why he had such a beauty and luster.

So next time you visit Sri Vrindavan Dham and before you hit the streets of Loi Bazar for a shopping spree, please do shop for Panchaghavya products at Bhaktivedanta Goushala or their sales counter opposite Srila Prabhupada’s Samadhi.

Let all get connected with Cow Now!! This way we all can put a halt to cow slaughter!

Torture of Cows in India

While going along the national highways, we can see minimum 30 cows dumped in a lorry and taken miles together without a sip of water, food and care. They are so badly dumped that they are unable to move its head or legs. What a tragedy?

More they dump more economical for them for transportation of cows. If the roads are bad, still more struggle and suffocation happens to them which tortures all along the way. Not more than 5 or 6 should be loaded on a single lorry, which should be loaded with grass, water and other required items for them. But do we see such an arrangement done for these cows?

It is a totally intolerable gesture done by merciless men who are after money they get from these sacred cows. Their milk, flesh skin fetch lakhs and lakhs of rupees. But they are uncared and savaged like cheap creations. No! No it is intolerable. Slash this! Stop this! Let rules &regulations come forward to put an end to this disgraceful gesture.

Let us see what is happening in the slaughter houses and in streets to the cows! Oh! Oh! Horrible! Horrible! Disgraceful! Merciless!! Mind boggling scenes! Unbearable incorrigible tortures!

Are we Indians! Are we really true believer of non violence! Are we all stupid silent spectators of this violence to a very kind and very noble creature which looks after us and nurtures us from birth to end of our life?

Are we sensible! Are we not morally responsible for this butchering menace! Are we not responsible by not stopping this?

When a tiger is shot or hurt a big hue and cry is seen in parliament and in the press. When a lion is hunted even then a big scene is created amongst the elites. When a deer is hunted imprisonment and court orders are thrown on the individual who ever he may be.

But also when a sacred cow is tortured, butchered and battered no one raises a voice! No one issues notice! No one raises it in the parliament. No one writes it to the press. No one reports for legal action! No one is sensible enough to make a hue and cry for this noble cow! What a pity! What a disgrace! What a meaningless citizens? What an in insipid rules & regulations? What a pathetic blood shed activity it is, that nobody cares? Totally ignored murder! Totally lawless killing and torture!

From the 3 southern states alone, about 20 lakh cattle are taken to Kerala every year for slaughter, where Beef is 40% staple food and the products are exported.

**There are 7000+ unlicensed abattoirs in Kerala. The butchers for a fair price buy the cattle from calves, to milch animals including healthy bullocks.

These animals are tied by neck and made to walk without food or water for miles together, or transported in lorries with a single rope passing through their noses in tightly packed rows or bundled one over the other with their legs broken by iron road.

Every cow is killed in full view of others waiting in horror. An iron pipe is inserted deep into the throat followed by a sharp iron rod to cut off the wind pipe and food pipe, and when the cow is struggling for breath and blood is gushing, lime water is pumped into the stomach to gain extra meat weight. Then starts skinning while alive and cutting out other parts.
By killing one animal, the benefits they drive are; Hide :Rs. 3500 and above depending upon the animal

Beef : about 350 to 500 kgs @ Rs 70/kg

Blood and liver : sold to pharmaceutical companies

Bones : sold to sugar factories / pharmaceutical units

Bone marrow : sold to dog feed manufacturers

Fat: bought by detergent, oil, ghee manufactures

  • Before every milking, the cows and buffaloes are injected with a hormone “Oxytocin”, which cause immense uterus pain.
  • Nature has blessed the new calf with an enzyme “Rennet” to sustain in the initial days, but this is also sliced out from its stomach for manufacturing cheese.
  • The cost of mutton and beef is Rs 70 and 250 respectively, and hence largely adulterated.
  • Due to indiscriminate mass slaughtering over the years 64 out of 96 swadesi Indian breeds have been totally wiped out.
  • The laws to prevent cruelty to animals are in force in the states, but are largely ignored.

Example: Transport of cattle for slaughter is prohibited. For any other purpose, only 6 animals should be transported in a lorry – but 30 to 40 are transported.

  • Certain acts like twisting tails; testicles etc are non bailable offences punishable under sec. 428/429 of IPC.
  • Before killing, the cow should be fed well, and a veterinarian should certify its health. Other cows should not see the killing. The cow’s eyes should be injected, or a high volt current should be given to desensitize the animal before killing, and no skinning or cutting should be done before the death is complete.
  • On many occasions, even the cows given in “godhana” after the death of a Hindu is also sold ultimately to the butchers. At times, Cows offered to temples are also diverted for slaughter by the vested interests.
  • Certain worms present in beef enter the human brain and proliferate and cause a dangerous conditions viz. Neuro cysticercosis’ which may prove fatal also.
  • For manufacturing very expensive leather, a full pregnant cow is made to stand in a small cement tank, hot water is poured till tail level and some persons beat it with rods. Out of fear and gruesome treatment, the cow delivers and the fetus is pressed into the hot water and the skin of the calf is peeled out and processed in the same temperature. Also, the leather from 5 such cows side to be very soft is used in the upholstery of one expensive car.
  • These cows and buffaloes produce milk their own calves like our own women. But, on most occasions, the calves are killed immediately after birth not only to rob the milk but also to capitalize on their skin and meat. Cows are extremely intelligent with a strong bondage for their calves. They can identify a beef-eater by smell when approached and feel uneasy while passing by a slaughter – house.

But, in our only land of Lord Sri Rama, Lord Krishna, the great Buddha, and SRI MADWACHARYA, even a few thousands of these cattle are not taken care of in their old age. The plight of the dry cows and the old cattle is miserable and are subjected to a lot of cruelty. Due to socio – economic reasons and ignorance, some sell these unproductive animals to butchers who in turn make hefty profits by selling their skin, meat, blood, liver and bones.

We, the real beneficiaries of the stolen milk, consciously are bound to protect these known mothers and help in proving a peaceful living.
